Happy Women’s History Month!
As we all know, women are some of the strongest people alive. They raise children, work diligently, maintain relationships, educate others, and most importantly, provide care to everyone. Women possess characteristics like being self-confident, optimistic, go-getters, and they are unafraid to stand up for what they believe in. We have seen this in history among famous women like Rosa Parks and Elizabeth Cady Stanton who fought for the rights we have now.
Last month was Women’s History Month and during that month many celebrated women’s achievements that have been overlooked in the past. Women have done incredible things that have changed our world. This ranges from Mary Anderson inventing windshield wipers to Olga González-Sanabria inventing the Space Station Power System. Throughout years in history, women have continued to develop our country by maintaining stability and provoking progress.
If it wasn’t for the seven founding sisters’ (Anna Faulkner, Florrie Faulkner, Rose Dickinson, Stella Hanford, Marion Hanford, Eva Colmore, and Mabel Vaughn) courage to speak up for what they believe in, this organization would not be the way it is now. Each woman who has been a part of Delta Beta Sigma has played a vital role in encouraging leadership, empowering others through sisterhood events, and supporting local and national charities. Read further to meet some of our Delta Beta Sigma alumni who have helped contribute to this organization to be something so impactful.
Likewise, being a woman is one of my greatest blessings. I love being able to engage in women empowerment, and I find myself leaning towards new experiences that display women empowerment like being a part of a sorority or volunteering as a Counselor at Volunteer Girls State. Most importantly, I am so thankful for Delta Beta Sigma.
Let us continue to empower and uplift each other to be stronger women.
